As part of the European Tribiome project, Wagralim took part in the 2024 edition of the ABIM (Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting), a major event in the field of crop protection and sustainable agriculture, held recently in Switzerland. The meeting brought together key players in the sector, including biocontrol experts, regulatory affairs consultants, as well as representatives of European institutions and political decision-makers.
A key European event for sustainable agriculture
The seminars addressed a number of crucial issues for the agri/agro sector, in particular plant protection products (PPPs) and the new European regulations governing co-formulants in these products. EU regulation 574/2023 establishes strict criteria for identifying unacceptable co-formulants, marking a significant step forward in environmental protection and consumer safety. A European database dedicated to co-formulants is currently being developed, to increase transparency and accessibility of information for players in the sector.
Biocontrol and regulations: paving the way for progress
We also took advantage of this event to establish links with European decision-makers, regulatory experts and players involved in these issues. The discussions highlighted the Tribiome project’s initiatives to promote more environmentally-friendly agriculture, and explored avenues for future collaboration to remove regulatory obstacles to the development of biocontrol solutions.
Building bridges for greener agriculture
The event also highlighted the importance of sustainability in the development of agricultural practices. Discussions covered a wide range of topics, from the use of micro-organisms for plant protection to innovations in biostimulants. Wagralim was able to exchange views with experts who share our vision of sustainable and resilient agriculture, a subject we will continue to follow closely with our members and European partners.
Supporting innovation and sustainability in agriculture
Finally, our members, accompanied by Wagralim, were present at the show, with the support of AWEX, to promote and discuss their innovations and sustainable solutions. This event demonstrates our commitment to supporting the development of innovative and sustainable solutions in agriculture.
Tribiome: a flagship project for the agri-food transition
We will be continuing these discussions with political decision-makers to drive forward concrete projects, such as Tribiome, for the benefit of the agri-food chain, while at the same time making an active contribution to the transition to sustainable agriculture.
